There are millions of blogs on the internet today, and their number will only increase in the coming future. From 1997, when John Berger started the first official blog, to 2007, where even children maintain their own blog, we have come a long way. And there is a whole side industry that has developed over the last decade thanks to blogging.

A blog these days is one of the easiest things to make- even a person without HTML knowledge can set one up.  Also if you need to make money online, it is probably easier to do so with a blog than an ordinary site. This is probably the reasons why we see millions of auto blogs coming up everyday. They are effectively spam blogs, scraping content off other sites.  Webmasters use these spam blogs, or splogs to boost the number of inbound links to their main sites. Many people do this , and all of us have sadly forgotten a fundamental law- blog about something you like and genuinely have a passion for.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry owns a blog now- be it a free one or paid. Unfortunately the ratio of useless blogs to useful blogs is pretty high. Writing about something that you don’t have interest in will not result in satisfaction. Your blog won’t appear that attractive to readers ( including people who are experts in the subject that you are blogging about). Money making is only a secondary thing when it comes to blogs- creating useful content for your readers is the primary one. Unfortunately people want to make money more than serving the internet public. How many internet review blogs do you see on the internet today? Most of them are on dropped domains which have some PR.  How often do you see breast enhancement and music links alongside each other? Some people do not care about how their blog looks as long as it brings in $$. It is pathetic, and needs to be stopped.

Most splogs would have fallen into the supplemental index ( although Google has removed that recently).

There are many good blogs on the internet though. I’ll put up a list of some high quality SEO blogs some other time.
