A man named Jason Gambert is attempting to trademark the term ” SEO ”

As Sarah Bird of Seomoz points out,  the man seems to have little web visibility.

He has had several applications rejected in the past, but this one is currently in a state where affected people may file an objection with the Trademark office.

I doubt that he will be able to trademark the name, and forums and blogs alike seem to think of this in one word- Linkbait.

If he does get it, then I’m not too sure whether any webmaster will be able to offer SEO services in the future. It will probably have to rephrased as ” Internet Marketing ” or something like that.
