Revolution Theme to go Open Source

Author: Random Seo - Categories: Wordpress - Tags: , ,

The Revolution Theme by Brian Gardner, one of the best premium Wordpress themes out there, if not the best, is going open source from 1st of October 2008.

Gardner will team up with Jason Schuller ( Of Wp-elements.com) for the upcoming revolution project. All future and present themes will be released under the GPL License. The decision comes after Gardner and Schuller met Matt Mullenweg and Toni Schneider in San Francisco recently.

Gardner initially labelled the  Revolution theme Project X, and released it in August 2007. It took the wordpress theme world by storm, and became so successful that Gardner even launched his own affiliate program for the theme.

Defensio- a competitor to Akismet ?

Author: Random Seo - Categories: Wordpress

Spam is a big problem for all the bloggers out there-something that would come first on the list of things that bloggers would like to see eliminated from the internet. Akismet, as mentioned in the link above is a tool that does its job exceptionally well. It has a virtually unquestioned hold over the wordpress anti spam plugin market. Since it comes bundled in with the wordpress package, it is something that most new WP users notice after installing their blog. I was a bit pleasantly suprised that Akismet decided to give their newest rivals  a little publicity on their official blog.

Viagra, pharmacy, adult, video links….the list can go on and on, but to sum it up in a nutshell, sites which have absolutely nothing to do with the content of your site. All they want is a bit of traffic, and some PR to be leaked from your site. Some people do delete spam religiously, but there are the odd ones which creep in through the system. And considering that most of the work is done by bots and not humans, that success percentage is perfectly acceptable to spammers.

Wordpress.com retires Feed stats feature

Author: Random Seo - Categories: Wordpress

All those users having a wordpress.com subdomain blog will now have to say goodbye to the ”Feed Stats” feature. The inbuilt statistics and web analysis program for all wordpress.com is one of the most impressive ones on the net. The Blog stats feature allows you to have a complete look at the referrers, the search engine keywords, where they went and the most popular posts. The feed stats showed your number of subscribers in a graph form, as well as showed their breakup. Wordpress has for now, decided to retire feed stats. It might make a return in the future, but for now, it is taking a well deserved vacation.

Wordpress.com stats plugin now available for wordpress.org

Author: Random Seo - Categories: Wordpress

This news is a bit old, infact it was published over a week ago on the official wordpress.com blog. It has over 700 diggs already.  One of the main features of the free wordpress.com blog is the ” Blog Stats”.  It tells you the number of visitors, referrers, the most popular posts, search engine terms as well as clicks from your blog to other sites. The way the stats are presented is one of its plus points too- very few people will have problems in understanding it.
